The last several years have been nothing but exciting when it comes to vehicle safety. The addition of driver assistance features and ongoing advancements in collision safety make heading out on the road safer than ever. Nissan is continually advancing its safety technology. Let’s take an in-depth look at the safety technology available on Nissan models today.

Standard Nissan Safety Shield 360

Driver assistance features are becoming more and common across a wide range of makes and models. Nissan is including its Safety Shield 360 on 10 of its models as a standard inclusion. Safety Shield 360 is a suite of technological safety features designed to monitor what’s going on around the vehicle and help prevent collisions.

There are six features included with this package. High beam assistance detects oncoming traffic and automatically disengages the high beams. The system reengages the high beams when it is appropriate to do so. A lane monitoring system ensures you stay in your intended lane. If the driver drifts over the lane lines audible and other sensory warnings will engage. Automatic braking systems keep an eye out for both front and rear collisions. The frontal collision detection system also detects potential pedestrian collisions and can apply braking pressure then as well.

The remaining two features in Nissan Safety Shield 360 are on the lookout for vehicles in hard-to-see areas. The blind-spot monitor can alert the driver to other cars in their blind spot. The safety suite also monitors rear crossing traffic while you’re backing up, which makes backing out of a parking space safer and easier.  Read the rest of this entry »

Two exciting configurations for the popular Nissan Rogue are available to drivers. There is the standard Rogue and the newer-to-the-scene Rogue Sport. The Rogue sits comfortably in the middle of Nissan’s midsize SUV lineup. It’s larger than the Kicks and smaller than the Murano. Despite both cars carrying the same name, there are some striking differences. Let’s take a look at these two capable SUVs and compare them.

Size Comparison

One of the biggest differences drivers will notice between the 2021 Rogue and the 2021 Rogue Sport are the size of the vehicles. Both feature a similar body shape, but they have noticeably different dimensions. The Rogue is longer with a total length of 183 inches, while the Rogue Sport measures 172.8 inches, a difference of just under a foot.

These size differences translate to different measurements inside the cabin. The Rogue features a total available cargo room of 74.1 cubic feet compared to 61.1 on the Rogue Sport. Much of this room is dependent on the second row of seating being folded down. With the second row up, the numbers change to 36.5 and 22.9 cubic feet respectively. In terms of legroom, the Rogue is on top again with second-row passengers getting 38.5 inches versus just 33.4 inches on the Rogue Sport.

The 2021 Nissan Rogue’s larger size accounts for the added legroom and extra storage. However, its longer body can make city driving or squeezing into tighter parking places more difficult. Read the rest of this entry »
