High Falls State Park
High Falls State Park is located just outside Atlanta and is a great place to bring your family on a weekend getaway. The park offers several hiking trails, including an easy half-mile loop trail and an intermediate 2-mile trail. There are also several waterfalls along the way, so be sure to bring your camera!
Once you reach the falls, you can take a dip in one of the swimming holes below them and cool off before heading back up the mountain. You can also take advantage of the picnic tables, grills, and restrooms at this beautiful park. If you’re lucky enough to visit during warm weather months such as May or June, you might even spot some wildflowers blooming along the trail!
Indian Springs State Park
Indian Springs State Park is located just a few miles from Griffin, but it feels like you’re in another world. The park is part of the Chattahoochee National Forest and offers some of the most beautiful scenery in Georgia.
You can take a walk along one of five trails, swim in the spring-fed swimming area, fish in the stream or in Lake Russell, and enjoy a picnic with your family. The park also has two campgrounds for those who want to stay overnight.
Panola Mountain State Park
Panola Mountain is a beautiful state park just north of Griffin. It has gorgeous views, hiking trails, and plenty of wildlife. There’s also a lake where you can go fishing or boating if you have your own boat. If not, there are plenty of places where you can rent one.
The park is open from 8 am until sundown all year long, but there are some activities that are only available during certain times of the year. For example, swimming is only allowed during the summer months when the water temperature is warm enough (mid-May until early August). The park also has camping facilities available on its grounds if you’d like to stay overnight while enjoying its many attractions.
