Two exciting configurations for the popular Nissan Rogue are available to drivers. There is the standard Rogue and the newer-to-the-scene Rogue Sport. The Rogue sits comfortably in the middle of Nissan’s midsize SUV lineup. It’s larger than the Kicks and smaller than the Murano. Despite both cars carrying the same name, there are some striking differences. Let’s take a look at these two capable SUVs and compare them.

Size Comparison

One of the biggest differences drivers will notice between the 2021 Rogue and the 2021 Rogue Sport are the size of the vehicles. Both feature a similar body shape, but they have noticeably different dimensions. The Rogue is longer with a total length of 183 inches, while the Rogue Sport measures 172.8 inches, a difference of just under a foot.

These size differences translate to different measurements inside the cabin. The Rogue features a total available cargo room of 74.1 cubic feet compared to 61.1 on the Rogue Sport. Much of this room is dependent on the second row of seating being folded down. With the second row up, the numbers change to 36.5 and 22.9 cubic feet respectively. In terms of legroom, the Rogue is on top again with second-row passengers getting 38.5 inches versus just 33.4 inches on the Rogue Sport.

The 2021 Nissan Rogue’s larger size accounts for the added legroom and extra storage. However, its longer body can make city driving or squeezing into tighter parking places more difficult.

Performance Features

Drivers can get excited about the performance features on both the 2021 Rogue and smaller Rogue Sport. The 2021 Rogue features a 2.5-Liter engine with a max output of 181 horsepower. The Rogue Sport is equipped with a slightly smaller 2.0-Liter engine and a lower horsepower rating of 141. However, despite its smaller size, the Rogue Sport feels plenty powerful when you hit the gas for highway on-ramps and passing maneuvers. Both models feature modern CVT transmissions which automatically adjust resistance for optimal power and efficiency.

Safety Technology

Both the 2021 Rogue and Rogue Sport feature a wide range of available safety features. Nissan Safety Shield 360 is a suite of technology and driver assistance features that come standard on both models, providing drivers with peace of mind. This package includes frontal collision detection with emergency braking assistance, blind spot monitors, rear crossing path detection, and other nice-to-haves such as automatic high beams.

A wide range of other safety features is available on these two impressive SUVs. Impact crumple zones, modular air bag deployment, and several stability features are all available on Nissan models.

The 2021 Rogue and Rogue Sport are two capable SUVs with a lot to offer. When it comes down to it, their size is one of the biggest differences between the two. The Rogue offers more legroom and cargo capacity, but the Rogue Sport is easier to maneuver around tight spaces and small parking spots. Be sure to test drive both vehicles the next time you’re looking for a new Nissan SUV.
